Privacy Policy

Many of you will be familiar with the Data Protection Policy statement from the The ISRM Covid paperwork which I introduced in July 2020:

"The Clinic fully complies with the most up to date Data Protection Policy and has a transparent approach to Data Processing which empowers individuals to know about the collection and use of their personal data. We collect data for ensuring we have the right information for assessing your suitability to treatment, for completing the appropriate treatment, for contacting you regarding appointment follow-ups and for a referral to GP or other healthcare practitioners if deemed necessary. We collect only data that is relevant to those purposes, and we keep it for 7 years. All information held will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be released to any other external party with the consent of the client"

The data collected on you
The personal data collected will include information relating to your name, address, date of birth, wider contact details and medical history (information gathered from your consultation form).  Following on from this I keep treatment notes, or Client notes as I often refer to it as.

What is this information used for?
Your personal information, particularly medical information is used to help build a picture of your general and musculoskeletal health, which helps ensure my treatments are suitable and tailored.  The more informed I am, the better understanding I will have of you and your body.

Who is this information shared with?
Your data is not shared with anyone, unless I feel I need to inform your Doctor of my findings or concerns.  If this is the case, I will tell you of my intention to send correspondence to your Doctor and you will also receive a copy of the communication.

In essence, I will only use your data for the purpose for which it was collected, to enable me to treat you safely and appropriately.

How is this information Stored?
From July 2020 the Client Consultation Form is now completed online in Google Forms prior to the appointment, and are saved to my Google Drive.

Client notes and Consultation forms are safely stored on a Google Drive, a file storage area in the cloud which only I have access to.  To gain access to my drive I have a user name and password and Two Factor Authentication.  This is an extra layer of security that is known as "multi factor authentication" that requires not only a password and username but also something that only, and only, that user has on them (similar to the card reader when online banking, my Google Authenticator app will generate a code in order for me to pass the two factor authentication.  This code refreshes every 30 seconds).

How long will information be kept?
I retain your data for 7 years following the end of your treatment.  In the case of minors I will keep information for 7 years after they reach the age of 18.

I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
