Information & FAQ:
Polite requests/further information
Cancellation Policy: Clients must give 48 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling the appointment. Failure to do so may result in the Client being charged for the full appointment
I often have calls for urgent appointments, so you will be doing others a favour by giving me fair warning where you can. That said, I do understand that life throws curve balls with little or no warning
Illness: Do not come to clinic if you are unwell or if you have had a vaccination in the 48 hours before your appointment with me
If a client ignores the sickness and vaccination protocol outlined in their appointment reminder email, and turns up to the clinic anyway, treatment will be refused and they will still be charged for the session

For info: Soft tissue treatment when you are not feeling well will make you feel far worse, which is not what you want when you are already feeling bad. This principle also applies to vaccinations. Your immune system is already working hard enough to process the jab, without massage contributing to its workload
Skin infections/ rashes: If you are suffering from a skin infection then treatment cannot take place until the infection has cleared. If for example the Client has a fungal infection on their feet, then I will not treat the feet, however I can treat other areas of the body, providing the infection has not spread to other areas
Hydration: Please ensure you are well hydrated both pre and post treatment. This will aid your body in its recovery from soft tissue treatment and help lessen the chance of headaches and muscle soreness
Hygiene: it is advisable to have a shower before treatment (if possible), as this will cleanse the skin of sweat and bacteria. If a person is overly sweaty (straight out of a work-out) or has a poor level of hygiene then treatment will be refused and you will still be charged for the appointment
Clothing: please bring a pair of loose fitting shorts with you if possible. This makes assessment and treatment easier and is more appropriate.
Ladies, please avoid wearing a sports bra/crop top as these are harder to unfasten on the couch. Standard bras are preferred
Time: Please be prompt for your appointment. If you do happen to be running late, please can you let me know (if safe and legal to do so). Text is preferable, as I may not be able to answer your call until my previous Client has left the treatment room
Privacy: Please respect the privacy of other Clients- if you arrive early for your appointment please take a seat in the Waiting Area until I call you through to the Treatment Room
Under 16’s: I will treat Children from the age of 5. Parents or Guardians are to complete and sign the online client consultation form on behalf of the child.
Parents / Guardians are also required to remain in the room during treatment, which will last 30 minutes
Do I need to be ‘sporty’ to have a sports massage?
No, a person does not need to be sporty to have a sports massage. This is also another reason this type of massage is referred to as Sports and Remedial massage or Soft Tissue Therapy, as it treats both athletic and sedentary people. Sports and Remedial massage is a specific type of massage which treats soft tissue tension and dysfunction
I’ve just injured myself, when can I start treatment with you?
Please call for further information. The commencement of treatment will depend on the injury site and type of injury sustained, as it may need an x-ray (i.e.- a twisted ankle). In that sort of case I will not treat a person until fractures have been ruled out by an x-ray. Once fractures have been ruled out, if applicable, treatment can normally start 3 days after the injury
Can I bring along someone to the session?
Yes. Where possible I ask that children are not in attendance, as it's probably quite boring for them and the clients aren't fully immersed into the treatment
What payment methods do you take?
Card or Cash are the preferred method. If you would like to do a BACS transfer I can send you my details, however the appointment fee must be transferred prior to the appointment
Will it hurt?
Soft tissue therapy can be more invasive than normal therapeutic massage, as it is more specific and in some cases a much deeper treatment. I will use a whole range of advanced techniques, and at times it may be uncomfortable, but never excruciating. An explanation of all techniques I intend on using will be given, so you understand what I am doing and how it should be feeling to you
Will I feel sore afterwards?
Some clients may feel tenderness for a couple of days following treatment, which is completely normal. However, if this continues for longer please contact me. It is nothing to worry about, but as we are all unique, some people and their tissues are more sensitive and receptive than others. If this is the case it needs to be noted on your client notes. Likewise, some deeper techniques may cause small bruises in areas. These are completely normal and should be yellow/brown in colour. If they are blue/ purple you must inform me of this, for the aforementioned reason
How many sessions will I need?
There is no set number of sessions. This is depends on the nature of the issue you are seeking treatment for. I generally recommend clients have a couple sessions reasonably close together, then depending on the progress the sessions can be spaced out. After day 2-3 treatments clients choose the frequency of their visits, whether that be monthly, bi-monthly, or longer
